Food Bank

Food Bank

St James Church has been running a food bank for many years, but in 2018 the food bank moved to Cornerstone, where it still operates. The food bank is available during our regular opening hours. Food parcels are seen as emergency support, we therefore limit one food parcel a fortnight and a maximum of 3 in a rolling 12 month period. To request a food parcel for yourself or someone you know please get in touch with us – 01228 549796.

Renew @ Cornerstone

Renew @ Cornerstone Logo2   Renew Wellbeing

On Friday’s Cornerstone closes at 12pm, reopening at 1pm as ‘Renew @ Cornerstone’ a wellbeing cafe. From 1pm to 4pm every Friday we provide a range of free activities such as sudoku, word searches, painting by numbers and colouring. Many of those who attend come to chat over a free coffee, providing a safe place, where its OK to not be OK. We also provide a space for quiet reflection and prayer offering two led meditations (1:30pm and 3:45pm) which are optional.

Work Club

Work Club

By appointment only we have volunteers available to help with job hunting and CV creation. This takes places on a Tuesday morning, but must be booked in advance. To access our free Work Club, please phone 01228 549796 to book a place.

CAP Money Course

CAP Money Course

We run CAP Money Course (budgeting course) every other month. The course takes place over 3 x 2 hour sessions. The course consists of videos, work book activities and some group discussions. Its very informal and free drinks are provided to those who attend.  Those who have attended this course have found it incredibly useful helping them to budget so they can start saving for the future. To find out when the next course is running please give us a ring on 01228 549796 or visit capuk.org to find out when our next course is running.

‘Pay What You Can’

Pay what you Can

We run a Pay What You Can menu across all of our drinks and snacks in order to make Cornerstone as accessible and affordable as we can.  When paying for your drinks and snacks you will be asked to tell us what you would like to pay.

Chatter and Natter Table

Chatty Cafe Scheme

We are members of the ‘Chatty Café Scheme’, providing a table for anyone to join helping to reduce loneliness and isolation and creating new friendships. If you want to meet new people come in anytime and join in the conversation.
